Brian Wilson Memorial Scholarship

River City Wrestling is proud to announce The ‘Brian Wilson Memorial Scholarship’. This scholarship is named after the late Brian Thomas Wilson. Wilson was a Captain of the Henrico County Police department, where he joined the force in 1995. In 2021, Brian lost his battle with cancer, but forever remains in our hearts.

I met Brian Wilson in 2018 when I was coaching at the UFC Gym in Richmond. He brought his son in before wrestling try outs to get a leg up on the competition. When I joined River City in July of 2018 Brian and Liam soon followed me over to River City.

Through the years I knew Brian he would always attend practice/tournaments with a few extra dollars in his pocket. When he would pay the entry fee for his son he would always throw some extra money in there and tell me “use this to cover one of the kids who can’t afford it”. Those small gestures forever made an impact on me as an individual.

The ‘Brian Wilson Memorial Scholarship’ will allow Brian’s impact in Henrico County to stay alive. With this scholarship, we will offer free memberships to 1 athlete of each school of Henrico County to come in to River City Wrestling and train year-round free of charge.

We are now accepting scholarship applications. Please use the link below to apply for the Brian Wilson Memorial Scholarship:
